  • Showing someone the sole of your shoe is considered insulting.
  • When invited to a home, remove shoes at the entrance and wait to be shown to the guest room's seat of honor.
  • During Ramadan, it is polite to refrain from eating, drinking, and smoking during daylight hours.
  • You may be offered khat (stimulant plant), but declining is not impolite.
