Etiquette
- Always address elders with the honorific 'Aka'
- Remove shoes inside homes and do not step on floor coverings
- Do not touch food at meals until the elder first tastes it
- Flipping bread upside down or dropping it on the floor is considered disrespectful
- Always serve guests warm tea about one-third full and repeatedly offer
- Avoid direct body contact with women
- The left hand is considered unclean; use the right hand for eating
- Loud voices or whistling in public places are considered rude
- As a compliment, the phrase 'invite to chaikhana' is used
- When taking photos, avoid military facilities and mosque interiors during worship
