  • At mosques or holy sites, modest clothing and scarf desirable
  • During Nowruz period, customs of spring cleaning and hosting guests
  • In mountainous areas, being served tea three times is sign of welcome
  • Refrain from eating/drinking in public during fasting month
  • Taxi fares negotiated before boarding is customary
  • Photography prohibited near military facilities and borders
  • Cotton fields mostly private property; avoid trespassing
  • Pointing at people with left hand considered rude
