Etiquette
- Hand items to elders with the right hand only, not both hands
- The left hand is considered unclean and should not be used for eating or giving gifts
- Greetings are long and it is polite to inquire about each other's well-being
- Avoid business during prayer times
- Obtain permission before taking photos
- Women should wear clothing that covers shoulders and knees
- At meals, elder persons eat first from the communal plate
- Gifts should be given in odd numbers for good luck
- Negotiations follow "Malian time" and take time
- Be moderate with alcohol in public places
