  • High altitude means strong UV rays; sunscreen and hat necessary.
  • Mountain areas prone to afternoon thunderstorms. Early morning departures are safer.
  • ATMs are scarce outside Maseru. Prepare sufficient cash.
  • Loti and South African rand circulate at parity. Save exchange fees.
  • Power plugs are mainly Type M and Type C. Bring adapters.
  • Tap water is relatively safe from mountain sources but bottled water is prudent.
