Etiquette
- Always greet elders and seniors first and offer them the seat of honor
- Remove shoes and change into slippers when entering a home
- Turning bread upside down at the table is considered rude
- Begin eating only after the host says "Kaylangees!"
- Tea bowls should be poured sparingly and refilled frequently
- Use the right hand to give or receive items; avoid using only the left hand
- Do not step on the threshold when entering a yurt
- Request permission before photographing people
- Public intoxication is frowned upon
- Excessive physical contact with women is considered rude
- Refrain from eating in public during Ramadan
- Stepping on a kalpak (felt hat) is an insult
- Bringing small gifts when visiting is appreciated
