Etiquette
- Clothing that covers shoulders and knees is required when entering churches
- Handing items with the left hand alone is considered impolite
- The OK sign is insulting and should be avoided
- Palm facing forward "moutza" is the greatest insult
- When toasting, say "Yamas! (To health)"
- Tipping guideline: approximately 5-10% of the bill or leave small change on the table
- Time perception is relatively relaxed; a few minutes late is tolerated
- Photography of military facilities and police stations is prohibited
- Bread and water are often automatically provided at tavernas and included in the cover charge
- Even on first meetings, people may ask about family or hometown
