- Being somewhat late to appointments is common and called "Cape Verdean time"
- Even with strangers, greet politely and add words of concern about their health and family
- Speaking loudly in public places is not considered rude
- When taking photos, it's safer to ask permission from elders and rural residents
- Beach attire is relatively free, but avoid highly revealing clothing in town
- Handing items with only the left hand is considered impolite
- Be cautious as shops may be closed on religious holidays
- When invited to a meal, bringing a small gift (sweets or drinks) is appreciated
- When entering a home, it's customary not to remove shoes
- Portuguese is preferred in official settings, while Creole is preferred in daily conversation
