- When offered coca tea in highland areas, always take at least a sip
- Even on first meeting, address people by title and surname as a courtesy
- Lateness is widely tolerated, known as "Bolivian time"
- Always ask permission before taking photos at churches or markets
- Loud whistling in public places is considered rude
- Generally enter homes without removing shoes
- Business cards can be exchanged with one hand
- Tipping culture is minimal but 10% is customary at upscale restaurants
- Pointing at people in traditional dress during highland festivals is offensive
- Wearing masks during dusty dry season is not considered rude
