Etiquette
- Always stand when greeting elders or guests
- Dress modestly when visiting mosques
- Remove shoes and change into slippers when invited into homes
- It is polite not to drop bread at the dining table
- Passing items with only the left hand is considered rude
- When offered tea, do not refuse until it is poured three times
- Avoid excessive physical contact with women
- Check if military facilities are in the area before taking photos
- Speaking loudly in public places is discouraged
- Before Nowruz, homes are cleaned and there is a tradition of jumping over fire
