Travel tips

  • The dry season (December to April) is the best season, but hotel prices are high.
  • The rainy season (June to November) consists mainly of short showers, making tourism fully viable.
  • Tap water is desalinated but low in minerals, so bottled water is recommended for drinking.
  • Voltage is 230V/50Hz, British BF type three-pin plugs are mainstream.
  • Left-hand traffic. Rental cars require an international license plus a paid temporary island permit.
  • Hurricane season is August to October. Check travel insurance and itinerary change options.
  • Public buses have low fares but vague schedules. Taxi fares follow a unified state government table.
