- Greet elders or household heads and obtain permission before photographing when entering villages.
- Remove shoes when entering homes, and sit lower than elders.
- Meals begin after elders take the first bite.
- Modest clothing covering shoulders and knees is preferred away from beaches.
- Speaking loudly or shouting in public is considered rude.
- Avoid handing items with left hand alone; use both hands or right hand.
- Inside traditional houses (fale), move on knees rather than walking upright.
- Gifts to chiefs or clergy should be presented respectfully with both hands.
- Pedestrians have right of way at crossings, but use lights or reflectors at night due to sparse street lighting.
